Yes! The LUMEN workshop can be found at 'Island Darkoom' photography gallery and textiles studio in the village of Achmore on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. We are open seasonally from April - September, Monday - Friday 9-5. We are open by appointment throughout the winter months. You can organise your visit hrough our Contact Page.

Yes. Please select 'local pick-up' at checkout so you won't be charged for delivery. During April-September, items can be picked up any time within regular opening hours or throughout the winter months, by appointment, which you can organise via our Contact Page.

It might - especially for mens sizes, LUMEN unisex sizing tends to run smaller than standard. So for example, you may usually wear a medium but will be a LUMEN Large. The best thing to do is to check our detailed Size Guide to get the perfect fit for you.

Returns are accepted within 28 days of purchase and customers are responsible for postage costs of returns or exchanges - for full information please see our detailed Delivery and Returns page

Yes, although unfortuantely as a small business due to EU restrictions we are unable to post items to anywhere within the EU, including Northern Ireland. Any import and customs duties are the responsibility of the customer. See more information on our Delivery and Returns page.
Harris tweed

Yes, due to the naturally occuring oils within the 100% pure wool Harris Tweed, it is naturally water resistant and unlike synthetic fabrics, keeps you warm even when wet. More about Harris Tweed.

Cyanotype

Cyanotype is best cleaned with a gentle handwashing soap like you would use for a wool or silk item. An occasional hand wash actually gives your Cyanotype print a new found vibrancy in colour. Yes. Cyanotype chemicals are non-toxic and safe to the touch, even when the chemicals are raw and un-exposed. This is one of the things LUMEN loves so much about this alt-process: the iron and salt based chemicals are not harmful to you or the environment and can be used and handled safely.
